This guide is written specifically for customers who bought our All-in-1 Watercooling kit. Thanks!
These are the items included in FPGA.guide's watercooling kit:
- Barrow Pump SPB17-195 (960L/H, 5-6m)
- Barrow Radiator Dabel-60a 360mm (Copper/Brass, Thickness:60mm)
- Noctua Fan (110 CFM, 7.63 mm H₂O)
- Tube ID:1/2" OD:3/4"
- 90° Rotary Adapter (Male to Female)
- Compression Fitting ID:1/2" OD:3/4"
- Stop Plug
- Scissors/Blade cutter (For cutting the tubes)
- Phillip screwdriver and flat head screwdriver
- Pliers (For tightening the fittings)
- Anti-static Gloves (For your boards safety)
- Coolant: you can use clear coolant or distilled water.
- Funnel (For pouring water into the reservoir)
Your watercooling setup should be like this:
- 1 Board
Reservoir -> Pump -> Board -> Radiator -> Reservoir
- 2 Boards
Reservoir -> Pump -> Board1 -> Board2 -> Radiator -> Reservoir
- Assemble the pump and the reservoir. The pump comes with an acrylic top. Please remove it by unscrewing 4 screws on the bottom of the pump. Change the acrylic top with the one from the reservoir box. Screw it back. Then install the reservoir on top of your pump. Leave it that way for now.
- Clean up the radiator. Clean up your radiator before using it. Radiator contains a lot of debris inside it. You can clean it up by pouring some distilled water and shaking it, then rinse out. Repeat this process a couple times until you see no debris in the water.
- Install waterblock onto your FPGA card. If you haven't done so, here's the guide for it: https://news.fpga.guide/water-cooling-vcus-and-bcus/
- Install fittings. Connect your waterblocks to two 90° Rotary Adapters and install one Compresssion Fitting to each 90° Rotary Adapters. Next, depending on the angle of your tubes, you may or may not need to install 90° Rotary Adapters for your pump and radiator. However, you will still need to install Compresssion Fitting onto the pump and the radiator. Make sure every fittings is tighten well.
- Layout your rig position. Layout your rig setup. This is a critical step, you need to plan where you're going to put your FPGA, radiator, and pump. Make sure there are no electronic components underneath any water paths. And make sure the tube doesn't stretch or get too twisted. It would be best if the tube is in a relaxed position.
- Cut the tubes. Remember we only give you a limited length of tube. Please use it wisely. Measure everything first before cutting it up. Measure the distance from pump to FPGA, FPGA to radiator, and radiator to pump.
- Tighten the tubes and fittings. Unscrew the compression fitting's compressor. Use it to tighten the tubes and the compression fitting. Make sure you push the tube all the way through the end. And tighten it as tight as possible.
- Fill up your system with water. Fill up the water to the reservoir using a funnel or anything that easy for you. Note: do not run the pump dry. The trick to fill up your system with water is by pouring water until the reservoir is almost full, turn on the pump until the water in the reservoir is almost empty, then pour more water again. Repeat until the water comes back from the other end. And then fill it up until it touches the small tube inside the reservoir. Close the reservoir using stop plug.
- Run a dry test. Running a dry test means you need to run your watercooling system without powering on your FPGA boards. Try running it for a few hours (5-6 hours). And check for any leaks between the connections or in the waterblock area.
- Install fans onto the radiator. Install fans onto the radiator. It doesn't matter which side you attach your fans on the radiator as it does not make a huge difference. Use the long screw from the radiator box. Then turn on your fans!
- You ready to mine with your FPGA!
